Robin Thicke Talks Comeback Album

Robin Thicke hasn't released an album since 2021's On Earth and in Heaven. But his new record is set to change that. Robin caught up with In Search Of Magazine on Tuesday (Sept. 24) in New York City, where the blue-eyed soul artist played the zine a bit of his LP, including what inspired the record.

"I mean, my best album was Evolution, and so I kind of followed in a little bit of that script, making sure it's personal, it's intimate, it's loving, and also has some weights and challenges to get through," the Los Angeles native said, motioning a matte Black fan to keep cool during one of the Big Apple's random fall heatwaves. "I feel like the songwriting on that album was just me at my best...and what I was going through at that time. But I will say say in my opinion, I think this might be my best work since then; my most well rounded record."

Robin Thicke's unnamed LP with "about 14 songs," is planned to hit the world around Valentine's Day 2025. While much of the album was kept close to the singer's vest, or tuxedo jacket in Robin's case, the work thematically pulls from the singer's love for his family and his desire to push past his mistakes and generational curses. The LP's closer track, "Let the Pain Go," is indicative of this point.

"After I wrote a bunch of songs and I look back, it's all me trying to take care of my kids, take care of my lady, learn and get through whatever relationship issues we have to grow together and make sure we don't break this family up," he adds.

"'Let The Pain Go' is a message to myself, but also I'm singing to the listener, and saying...'I've been hurting the same, I've been living the same," because I'm connecting with my audience that is going through the same thing and I'm reminding them to let go and move forward."
