Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the eighteenth main entry in the series, is being taken back into the world of Three Houses by Nintendo and Intelligent Systems, and it will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026.

The story, which takes place in 1454, centres on the Dagdan Empire as it lies on the edge of downfall following the return of Balor, a demon god who has been brought back to life. A soul dispatched by the goddess Sothis joins forces with Fortuna, a goddess capable of time travel, in order to go into the past and assist four heroes in altering their destiny. The events of that past occur five years earlier, in 1449, when the capital city of Dagsion hosts the Heroic Games, a tournament held as a tribute to the empire's founder.

There are four protagonists from whom the players can choose, each having been drawn into the Games for his or her own personal reasons: Cai wishes to set his father free, Dietrich wants a more worthy opponent, Theodora is fighting in order to realize her kingdom's dream, and Leda is seeking revenge.

The game is based on the Three Houses concept, featuring a calendar system which controls the downtime in Dagsion during which the players train, have meals together and recruit allies between battles as well as regain their Crests and Hero's Relics. Among the new features are Blaze Arts that use up HP rather than weapon durability and new mounts such as the Ornius.

Mouse control is being introduced for the first time in the history of the series through the use of the Joy-Con 2, which allows players to switch smoothly between using the mouse and the conventional button input.

Chinatsu Kurahana, the character designer, returns from her work at Three Houses and thus provides continuity to a game which is already attracting attention as one of the major fall releases for the Switch 2.
