In Search Of Magazine Playlist Mk. 2

We're back with the second iteration of the ISO 10, and while the diverse array of genres may be chaotic, we take pride in that!

Kicking off the playlist is the mysterious New York-based band Triathalon. Fresh off of their recent album release, we've included their track, "Die," to set the playlist's unpredictable tone. Buffalo, NY artist and fashion designer Billie Essco arrives next with "Satin Jackets," a braggadocio preamble leading into a feature from the FlyGod himself, Westside Gunn. Essco's track is an extension of his latest album, Avant Garde, which should be in your whip if it isn't already. Free Party, a rap duo from Largo, MD, is on the playlist with their red-blooded "Wimbledon." The aptly titled track sees the duo serving flows and bouncing off of each other through effortless chemistry. With a bit of Big K.R.I.T and Outkast evident in their influence, I'm excited for what's next for Jay Veno and Mo, mainly because this 2-minute performance simply isn't enough.

Nadine El Roubi is an ambitiously multi-talented artist with the ability to pipe silk-like melodies and rap bad bitch affirmations, switching seamlessly between the two. Her latest, "Honey Butter,” is a testament to these claims and, with her talents, she's most definitely an artist to keep your eye on. "Lead Me On" is a banger. The aforementioned track flies off the lips of New Jersey's rising star, Chris Patrick, and the soulful Erykah Officer, kitted with a tropical rhythm and vibe that’s sure to leave hips swaying. We’re betting anything on that. It should also be noted that Chris Patrick is one of the nastiest rhymers making noise right now out of the tristate area. With his versatility and creativity, he's gonna be a problem.

Speaking of nasty rhymers, "SOMEGUYDEZ FREESTYLE" is delivered by emcee Radimiz, the Brooklyn-based artist who is literally restoring the feeling. A dude who was once crowned as HOT97's "Who's Next" artist, the spitter has been slowly building momentum towards a breakout moment, and this track is another piece of the puzzle. Drego & Beno are probably two artists you already know about; if not, the Detroit duo are moving in a way to make sure you never forget. They recently dropped off their latest LP, Sorry We Was Trapping, and "Slatt Season 5" is a proper showing of the new Motor City sound they helped usher in— an erratic, almost rushed delivery, similar to a drag race and you're racing the beat, but frighteningly in control with every bar and every turn on the track. It's admirable.

The Berries are a band that we recently stumbled upon. We were doing our usual disorderly yet composed search for new music and arrived at "Prime." A guitar-driven 3-minute track discussing the idea of time and age, rife with a 2000s alternative rock charm that I couldn't resist. "Can't Get Out of This Mood" by Samara Joy brings nothing but joy to my heart. Well, that and the fact that she sounds similar to Anita Baker. The 24-year-old jazz singer hails from the Bronx and shows her star potential with this exceptionally crafted vocal performance. Subtle yet complex, Joy has something special. And to cap off ISO 10.2, we have the refulgent Alex Isley. What can I say about the young crooner that I haven't already said? "105" is our favorite song from her latest album, Marigold, and much like the album artwork, her voice on this track is almost healing, succor to a heart in need of dire healing. Isley is sure to be a timeless artist.
