Across various cultures, marigolds have historically come to symbolize positive, warm energies as the "herb of the sun." But, most importantly, the flower's fierce orange and red hues have often been associated with despaired love and somber remembrance. And Alex Isley's refulgent new album, Marigold, is a bouquet of the aforementioned plants.

On her latest offering, Isley picks up where she left off on 2019's five-song EP, Wilton, reconnecting with collaborator Jack Dine for a focused, bare yet complex body of work.

Through nine tracks, the Isley Brothers' descendant tackles the concept of love and the vast array of feelings that come with it; love lost, love found, emotions of the past and the present, uprooted and repotted for closure. It's a riveting mediation on the art of moving forward and achieving clarity of the heart. But, to say it plainly: it's a damn good album.
