LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Swings Onto Consoles

The game LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, developed by TT Games who also produced LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, is a story-driven open-world action-adventure game in which players face off against Gotham City's most notorious DC Super-Villains. It was released on May 22, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC, with a version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 to be released at a later date.

The game follows Batman's journey from his origins to becoming a legend, including many of the famous scenes from films, television programmes, and the comics, all in the style typical of the LEGO series. It opens with young Bruce Wayne learning his skills from the League of Shadows and, as the game progresses, players go on to build a 'family' of allies consisting of Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul in order to bring down the growing Rogues Gallery.

While earlier titles in the series used TT Games' own engine, Legacy of the Dark Knight is based on Unreal Engine 5 and takes considerable inspiration from the Batman: Arkham series. The players move around an immersive Gotham employing a new combat system that features fluid combos, stealth methods, and detective abilities, and at the same time climb, glide or drive around the open world in order to investigate crimes, complete challenges and visit famous sites such as Arkham Asylum and Ace Chemicals.

Players will be able to unlock more than 100 suits and drive the iconic Batmobiles from each era, such as the famous Tumbler, and can customize both their vehicles and equipment using a fully explorable Batcave. The game offers either single-player or couch co-operative play, and has a new "Dark Knight Mode" which is punishing for those players who want an additional challenge.
