Artist to Watch: threetwenty

threetwenty is a quiet revolution, steadily on the neo-soul tip.
The husband-and-wife duo, comprising singer Ivana Nwokike and Swedish producer Filip Hunter, was created out of their two separate internal journeys. Nwokike, formerly part of VanJess, departed the group in search of spiritual answers. At the same time, Hunter underwent a creative disconnect during his travels as a producer for artists like Mariah the Scientist. The result? The couple put their creative energies together to form threetwenty, making music that reworks past neo-soul sensibilities for the modern listener — and self.
But it's not just in the music that the duo spreads awareness for their mission statement; threetwenty, the name is a reference to the date that they met (March 20, 2018) and to Ephesians 3:20, scripture from the Holy Bible that teaches that God can do more for us than we think and highlights God's unlimited power.
The duo has been on a heater this year, releasing calm and intentional tracks like "Who Are You To Me," "Let Me Grow," and, my personal favorite, "The Light (I Need You)." Hunter and Nwokike previously released several tracks in 2024, including "Blessed Like That," "Been on a Journey," and "Faith is a Substance." While there hasn't been an official project from the married couple yet, threetwenty's soulful introspection is a refreshing listen. And they demand your attention.
